SDK/PHP Engineer

Rollbar is used by some of the best engineering teams in the world, including Twilio, Salesforce, Zendesk, and Twitch. We are looking for an experienced PHP software engineer to join our growing team as a contractor. The ideal candidate is extremely comfortable working on, designing, implementing, and debugging complex PHP and potentially other SDKs, effectively communicating technical content with Senior Engineers, and able to understand and design code for a high-scale, low-latency cloud infrastructure.

You will:
- Code and maintain our open source PHP specifically, plus others libraries (“SDK's”)
- Help define the common specification that all libraries should adhere to, and work to implement that spec in each SDK
- Work with the Tech Lead for SDKs to implement new features in the SDK's and relay feedback
- Have fun while releasing software used directly by thousands and indirectly by millions
You have:
- Expertise with PHP and related frameworks (i.e. Symfony, Monolog, Laravel etc.)
- Involvement with PHP Developer Community, familiarity with best practices for PHP, package management and tools
- Experience working with REST API
- A deep understanding of the things you work with, and you find ways to make them better
- An attitude of continuous improvement and welcoming feedback
- A sense of accomplishment regarding the products you build and the impact they have for our customers
Bonus points:
- Open source experience - experience as a maintainer/core contributor of open source projects
- Experience with Rollbar in your personal or professional projects
- Experience with Python or Java
