Java/Scala Service Engineer, fully remote

We are seeking a backend engineer with 4+ years of experience building enterprise-scale and production-ready applications.
This is a 12-month contract with the opportunity for extension or conversion to FTE. This is a high visibility product team where you will get a chance to make a positive impact on customer experience in the hospitality industry, designing and building the next generation client architecture that currently serves 9M+ monthly visitors.

Skills
- Ability to own work items and help cultivate new ones with a Product-first mindset*
- GraphQL & REST API concepts and implementation patterns*
- Experience writing and maintaining domain-driven microservices*
- Agile (Scrum) development – ability to accurately size user stories
- Experience with event-driven system architectures
- Has the ability to work independently with a distributed team of remote engineers
- Can help drive engineering best practices
- Help mentor other engineers
Languages/frameworks
- Java / Scala language*
- Spring MVC
- Spark experience preferred
- Bash / Shell scripting for CI/CD pipelines
Tooling
- AWS Lambda or Azure Functions*
- CI/CD Pipelines (Any of: Jenkins, CircleCI, Github Actions, etc.)
- Github
