Senior Shopify Engineer

We’re Third and Grove, a group of data-driven strategists, creatives and engineers slaying the mundane for some of the world’s biggest brands. We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join our growing, distributed Shopify team.

This role works closely with our Project Managers, Creative, and Strategy teams as well as client stakeholders to design and plan solutions. You will lead and mentor engineers assigned to the projects to successfully execute those solutions. This opportunity gives you a large amount of freedom to craft the best solutions possible to enable our clients to achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Own all technical aspects of assigned client projects
- Craft technical solutions and clearly communicate them to clients and team members
- Participate in all phases of project development, beginning with discovery and requirements gathering through development and launch
- Create technical documentation for internal development teams and client stakeholders
- Transform visual mockups and written requirements into fully-functioning Shopify stores
- Manage multiple client projects and timelines simultaneously
- Evangelize best practices and coding standards, perform code reviews and provide feedback to team members
Duties
- Work with UX and designers to produce tight, forward-thinking, responsive and scalable front-end experiences
- Consult and advise on technical goals such as store configuration, Shopify app usage, site performance, etc
- Lead the teams of engineers assigned to your projects to delivery high quality results
- Work with Project Management to scope new functionality requests and supporting Sales to scope new projects
- Build custom Shopify themes and modify pre-existing themes depending on the scope of the project
You
- Minimum of 3+ years experience working within the Shopify Plus platform
- Expert in Shopify Liquid template language, theme development and best practices
- Knowledge of the Shopify app ecosystem and experience providing app recommendations
- A sharp attention to detail and ability to translate visual designs to front-end code
- Meticulous use of version control (git)
- Experience building highly performant front-ends for the modern web
- Superb troubleshooting and debugging skills
- Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and JQuery
- Knowledge of Shopify Storefront API a plus
- Knowledge of WCAG accessibility guidelines and experience building accessible sites a plus
- Knowledge of ReactJS a plus
- Experience working with other platforms (BigCommerce, Wordpress, Drupal) a plus
