Senior Mobile Engineer (iOS & Android)

Float

Description
Float, the world’s leading resource planner, is looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer with advanced React Native skills to join our remote-first team. We’re a team of people living our best remote work lives. From New York to Melbourne, Canada to South Africa - our team of Engineers, Product Managers, Marketing and Customer Success folks work asynchronously to help teams plan and manage their time better. Float is self-funded, profitable, and growing. If you’re a self-starter, aligned with our values, and are looking to join a team that’s passionate about helping others work and live more productively, we want to hear from you. Here are a few tips from our CEO to make sure your resume stands out from the crowd.
Who We're Looking For
A Senior Mobile Engineer to lead the interaction design of our iOS and Android applications and maintain an elegant and performant user experience for our worldwide customer base. We're looking for someone who possesses a strong eye for detail and a love and respect for design. You sweat the details of every interaction, knowing that the small stuff matters. You'll be able to demonstrate successful past projects for professional, public-facing, mobile applications. We're looking for hands-on, senior-level candidates whose primary focus and love is the work, not the management of others.
Having recently released two React Native apps, we’re ready to take those learnings and enhance their functionality with mobile-first features to deliver a best-in-class experience. Working with our Product Designers and Engineers, you'll have a strong hand in influencing all facets of this experience.
A candidate will require the following skill sets to be successful in this role:
  • Strong React Native experience
  • Highly proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Experience within a cross-functional team, e.g., Product, Engineering and QA
  • Experience in automating deployments and releases for iOS and Android apps
  • Strong understanding of Google and Apple design principles and interface guidelines
As a fully remote team, we're looking for hands-on, senior-level candidates who are able to focus on the work and lead projects without direct oversight. Asynchronous is the default form of communication at Float, and we have very few meetings, so you’ll have long stretches of time to focus on deep work. Everyone at Float leads by example and sets the bar for quality. If you have the skills listed above and well-considered opinions about mobile best practices, demonstrate a passion for the craft of product development and are interested in sharing Float’s views within the technical community online as well as supporting our team members in these endeavors, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
You will be working directly with our Engineering and Product Design teams to execute the end-to-end user experience. Examples may include mobile-specific features, like an iOS Home Screen Widget, or Home Screen Actions menu. Or pairing with our web application team to deliver real-time data insights to our user’s that help with their resource planning.
As a Senior Mobile Engineer, you will work to refine interactions, animations and transitions to improve user experience, project infrastructure, perceived and actual performance as well as develop test plans and supporting documentation.
You thrive in a fully remote environment where async is the default form of communication, there are very few meetings, and you’ll have long stretches of time to focus on deep work.
