As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we work to promote work-life balance and ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.
We are looking for an experienced eCommerce Lead Engineer. We are a small but mighty team establishing our software operations in San Francisco. Our team is passionate about building a best-in-class online shopping platform to reach our customers in 100+ countries. We are dedicated to providing premium customer service across the eCommerce platform and Oura services. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable brainstorming with cross-functional stakeholders as they are defining a technical platform strategy, to evaluating third party solutions.
You will:
  • Partner with the eCommerce Product Manager to build a robust roadmap and technical strategy for the eCommerce platform.
  • Build our service-oriented eCommerce platform in a modern cloud environment with AWS, Javascript and Moleculer.
  • Own the technical architecture and solutions that power and enhance our eCommerce platform
  • Ensure that platform adheres to the latest security and compliance regulations
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and sometimes overseas stakeholders.
  • Serve as a technical leader across teams in San Francisco and mentor a dedicated team of engineers.
Requirements
We would love to have you on our team if you:
  • 6+ years of practical full stack development work experience
  • Have architected, built and deployed web services in production, and can apply architectural patterns and best practices
  • Have experience running, monitoring and debugging production systems at scale on AWS
  • Have built eCommerce sites and their supporting backend APIs with REST, gRPC, graphQL or similar technologies
  • Have a pragmatic entrepreneurial attitude and delivery-focused mindset: you can handle tradeoffs between short-term goals and long-term tech debt
  • Have a team-oriented mindset and enjoy working in a diverse environment with distributed teams
  • Have solid programming skills in JavaScript or TypeScript and can write high-quality code including automated tests
  • Have an affinity for automating busywork and fixing problems at the root
  • Are comfortable working with a diverse and talented group of team members residing throughout the globe
  • Nice to have: frontend experience with modern frameworks such as React
Together we will continue to define Oura as a company where you can:
  • Be productive and do your best work
  • Be part of a world-class engineering team following and helping define best practices
  • Contribute to a product that improves the lives of 100s of thousands of people across the globe
  • Be happy and have great work-life balance - we work efficiently, remove the fluff and pointless meetings, so that work continues to inspire and motivate you
  • Grow on your chosen career path, be it technical, people, managerial or leadership skills, or any mix of those
