About The Role (You)
We are looking to add a People & Capabilities Manager to our team to help us support and optimize our greatest resource - our people!
This is a key strategic role because you will be a champion of company culture, and will support the leadership team and staff in promoting our brand as an employer, hiring, developing, motivating, compensating and retaining our team. The role involves cross-border oversight in both the USA and Canada, as well as collaboration with international counterparts.
What Will Some of Your Day-to-day Look Like?
The role will develop strategy, as well as lead and support multiple initiatives including:
  • Human Resources Strategy
    • Providing HR guidance on complex issues - from recruitment to staff relations and performance management
    • Development of future talent mapping according to global strategic objectives
    • Drive organisation efficiency across all functions ensuring compliance with agreed targets
    • Support the build of critical capabilities to enable the business to deliver its growth plan
    • Administrating compliance and managing related documentation
    • Researching, drafting and rolling out policies
    • Support and deliver leadership team effectiveness solutions
    • Keep appropriate HR records
  • Culture & Engagement
    • Drive forward wellbeing initiatives
    • Be a leader in culture and employee experience
    • Recommend and action recognition schemes across functions to set the tone and reinforce the behavioural charter
    • Organize and support details for team events, if applicable
    • Support and implement performance driven reward plans across specific functions
  • Performance Management
    • Challenge and support Managers and the Leadership team across the business to align functions to desired behaviours and attitudes to current and ways of working
    • Support Managers and the Leadership team to ensure objectives and goals are set and used to align performance against the business strategy
    • Ensure active management of poor performers across the business
    • Emphasis on future capability, skill development and career mapping
  • Attracting & Recruitment
    • Create and support recruitment and resource plans across the business and support Managers
    • Assist in managing resourcing across the functions and calibrating all key appointments
    • Develop and ensure resourcing processes are fully aligned to business requirements (attraction, selection, on-boarding etc)
    • Have a good understanding and view of the external recruitment market (competitors, market etc)
  • Learning & Development
    • Support coaching for all new team leaders and management appointments
    • Ensure robust induction and core programmes are in place and being effectively used
    • Look at training initiatives across the business aligned to organisational capability plan and business objectives
  • Leadership & Management Development
    • Support and deliver leadership team effectiveness solutions
    • Ensure robust management and leadership development at all times
    • Build a high support and drive leadership initiatives and thought process
Requirements
Essential Experience and Skills
  • First and foremost, we are looking for the right culture fit (see 'You' above)
  • Critical experience: 5 - 10 years experience in HR/People management
  • University or college degree in a relevant field
  • CHRP / CHRL, SHRM or equivalent
  • Experience and absolute passion for recruitment
  • Exposure to and understanding of employment law in USA & Canada, performance management, conflict resolution, difficult conversations, employee engagement, training, as well as on and off boarding.
  • Experience rolling out projects to multiple stakeholders in North America, in collaboration with international counterparts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfort with technology and IT
  • Comfort gathering data, analysing it (using excel or other tools) and presenting evidence-based approaches.
Interpersonal Skills
  • Not a 'this is not my job' person - extreme ownership of your work would be invaluable here, as you'll be threading multiple functional areas. A self-starter with curiosity and work ethic.
  • The ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively is critical - things happen quickly here.
  • You need to be able to speak up and provide tangible proof for your positions (through research and analysis).
  • Must embrace diversity / working with a wide range of team members.
  • Ability to work remotely at varying times of the day.
