Abstract

Arsenal Studios is growing and we are seeking a Junior or Mid Level Front-End Web Developer for a full time opportunity. This is a new, growth position. The immediate objective is to assist in development of our rapidly growing custom web design and development business. We are seeking a candidate to help build highly customized WordPress & HubSpot websites, as well as non-CMS based websites, in support of long term marketing campaigns.
 
Important: We are currently only able to hire North American residents. This is not a design or back-end development position, though interest in interdisciplinary work will be supported and nurtured.   In this position, the selected candidate will be working with our in-house designer to construct, customize and configure websites built in WordPress, HubSpot, or on custom platforms. Depending on your skillset, you may also be involved in development of advanced CMS functionality, interface animation, and dynamic content. We love new technologies and continually push ourselves to learn and grow, so be prepared to expand your skillset.  See the “Tool Box” section for all the cool toys we play with.

Remote Workplace
We have been a fully remote workplace since our inception in 2008 and can hire candidates throughout North America. We work during regular East Coast business hours with some flexibility in start and end times if needed. Example Projects

Just so we are on the same page, here are some example projects that will help you understand the role:
CMS development – Work with a designer to implement design concepts and administrative UI for a WordPress site with Advanced Custom Fields or a HubSpot site with custom modules. Work with the rest of our dev team to build highly custom functionality for advanced client use.
College application system – Work with a small team of developers and designers to create a robust online application system interface and reporting console for administrators with a LAMP stack back end and a Bootstrap / Angular front-end.
Budgeting system – Work with a small team of developers and designers to create a Mint.com style budgeting system with a LAMP stack back end and a Bootstrap / Angular front-end.
 

Skills & Requirements

Requirements:
  • A promising portfolio that features your front-end programming skills (please include portfolio details in your cover letter)
  • 2+ years experience developing complex web based interfaces
  • The ability to turn a client into a collaborator through clear communication, attention to detail, and enthusiasm
  • Experience with responsive development / front-end frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of theme development and admin customization for CMS platforms
Things you should know or be prepared to learn:
  • jQuery, Angular, and other JavaScript libraries / frameworks
  • CSS Preprocessors (e.g. Sass)
  • RESTful Services and APIs
  • Working knowledge of SEO best practices
  • Some experience working within a PHP development framework
  • Familiarity with the principles of Object-Oriented Programming
  • Development of custom WordPress plugins and themes
  • Development & configuration in the HubSpot ecosystem
  • Source control using Git
  • Testing and debugging best practices
  • Mobile development (web or app) experience
  • Analytics platforms such as Google Analytics
  • Google Tag Manager configuration and implementation
  • Split testing / multivariate testing platforms and best practices
  • Command Line Interface (CLI) familiarity
