We're Knack, a code-free platform used by thousands of customers — from non-profits to the world’s biggest companies — to easily build custom apps, workflows, and databases.
We're looking for whip-smart, hyper-detailed, super-organized Operations Manager to assist in optimizing all aspects of how the Knack team gets work done. We're restructuring the team post the leave of our previous Operations Lead which means you'll be coming into some established processes with superb supporting documentation. However, this will not prevent you from putting your own stamp on things or improving on current processes.
Knack is and has always been a 100% remote company. We started as a remote company so we know what it takes to ensure the success of a distributed team. TLDR: that essentially means that each member of the team has a huge amount of autonomy and ownership to define their work and impact.

In this role, you will:Contribute in all of the following areas...
Finances
  • Manage all aspects of payroll tax (this process is mostly automated but needs oversight from time to time)
  • Handle light accounting including expense categorizations and account reconciliations
  • Generate custom reports (e.g. software cost tracking, retreat expenses, etc.)
Sales
  • Collaborate with our sales team on enterprise account renewals
  • Manage all facets of accounts receivable (this process is also mostly automated but still requires a fair amount of oversight)
HR
  • Assist with hiring of new team members
  • Manage all facets of onboarding for contractors and employees
  • Track and pay reimbursements for learning credit and retreat expenses
  • Implement, understand, and translate benefits for the team
  • Support team leads with ad-hoc employee issues
Culture
  • Celebrate team wins and highlight great performance
  • Research and propose new remote work best practices
  • Keep a finger on the pulse of team operations to identify problems early
Event Management
  • Own retreat planning and management
  • Plan meetups and conferences
Operations
  • Contribute to project planning across teams
  • Continue iterating on the Team Handbook
  • Document and assist with formalizing team processes
We’re looking for someone who is:
An exceptional communicator, facilitator of trust, and has experience working remotely. Ability to self manage, ruthlessly prioritize and focus, and have a proactive spirit are musts.
Additionally, deep experience and expertise in at least a few of the following categories is expected, although we’re not necessarily looking for a magical combination of all of these skills/experiences.
Finances

  • Zenefits, Pilot (for contractors), Quickbooks, Stripe, Jira, Confluence, Google Docs, Trello, Slack, and Google Sheets

CommunicationThis position will have multiple communication challenges; the ultimate success of this role will depend on being able to adequately manage these
  • Managing multiple concurrent projects
  • Managing differing priorities or expectations among different project owners
  • Working closely with the CEO on operational issues
  • Working both transparently with the team while also keeping more private and sensitive information closer to the cuff
This is a unique operational role, but for the right candidate this will be the superlative position of your career. Our goal is to expand the Operations team based on this hire, so there will be room for more leadership responsibilities and/or for you to focus in on whatever specific areas you’re interested in.
