A world class Risk management system is critical for the success of any payments business. Here are some interesting challenges where a lot more architecture and engineering effort needs to be invested:
  • We are laying down the platform to ingest massive datasets and use them to give real-time (or near real-time) decisions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Fraud patterns are constantly evolving and a Risk system needs to be able to adapt to them quickly. We have built a highly configurable Risk system, so that we can roll out new risk rules or make changes to existing ones quickly.
  • In order to improve our adaptability to changing fraud patterns and to improve the accuracy of our decisions, we need to move towards Machine Learning models in the near future.
  • In the 1 year since Poynt got acquired we have already seen a 50x increase in volume and we are still only scratching the surface in terms of our integration into the GoDaddy platform. In 2022 and beyond we expect to grow this volume manifolds as we integrate deeper into GoDaddy. This will bring interesting availability and scalability challenges.
What you'll get to do...
  • Interact with Product Managers to define, influence and gather requirements.
  • Interact with management, engineering teams as well as technical leads on the Risk team to define high-class architectural solutions, with special attention to availability, scalability and API design.
  • Work with technical leads and engineers on the Risk team to discuss and guide on technical solutions.
  • Write code on important projects, with the goal of providing a framework for more junior engineers to work within.
  • Work with DevOps and Network engineers to resolve production issues.
  • Participate in quarterly and annual roadmap planning.
  • Note that this could transform into a people management role if there is interest and skillset match.
