LaterPay

What we're looking forLaterPay is looking for a full time Site Reliability Engineer to join our distributed tech team. We automate our infrastructure with Docker and Cloudformation. We operate our entire application on a CI/CD pipeline that you would help support by working with engineering teams on improving the process.
Your tasks
  • Designing and deploying tools for administration, configuration and monitoring of our infrastructure components.
  • Working with service owners to develop CloudFormation templates.
  • Maintaining best practices for security within AWS.
  • Partnering with the Engineering team on application building, implementation and fixing of issues.
  • Working with the Engineering team to keep incident response and security protocols up to date.
  • Joining the on-call rotation.
  • Evaluating and procuring new tools or technology vendors to help improve our system.
About you
  • A good command of English: written and verbal, producing and understanding.- As a distributed team, we primarily communicate via Slack, so the ability to clearly and completely communicate in written English is vital. - We also frequently hop on calls, both audio and video, so the ability to clearly speak and understand English is also vital.
  • A good surface/contextual-level understanding of “the full web stack”.
  • Experience with AWS and/or Docker would be good.
  • Knowledge of Elastic Beanstalk, and CloudFormation or Terraform would be terrific.
  • Familiarity with Python and its ecosystem would definitely be useful.
  • A desire to fix problems “properly” (not just paper over them) and an understanding that you often can’t fix problems properly. We want you to want to build a good-quality well-engineered solutions, but to know that sometimes you just need to “hack it in”. There are always tradeoffs to be made.
  • The capability of taking a task and owning it. That doesn’t mean you necessarily do all the work, but it does mean you take on responsibility for completion, and ask for help and advice as appropriate.
