SAS Viya Engineer- Remote

Position Summary:
SemanticBits is looking for a SAS Viya Engineer who is eager to use their skills to build next generation data analytics for measuring the quality that healthcare providers bring to patients. You will be part of a highly skilled team; working on high-impact government projects. We are seeking confident, self-motivated individuals to conduct this valuable work in a fully remote capacity. This position is open to a mid-level to principal professional depending on experience.
Tools & Technology:
- SAS Viya, Cloud Analytics Server (CAS), SAS Model Manager, Viya Web
- AWS and related cloud technologies
- Redshift, PostgreSQL, S3, Parquet
- Spark, Hive
Responsibilities:
- Five years of relevant technical experience, particularly with SAS
- Intermediate / expert skills with SQL and basic statistics
- Demonstrable expertise in creating SAS Viya visualizations and dashboards
- Demonstrable expertise crafting and debugging complex SQL statements
- Demonstrable expertise leveraging Cloud Analytics Server (CAS) and Viya Web capabilities
- Establish and operate ongoing project reporting processes
- Engage SAS technical support and other organizations as needed to rapidly recover from problems, and contribute to the implementation of meaningful countermeasures to prevent problems from reoccurring
- Strong problem solving and structuring skills
- Ability and desire to take ownership of and initiative for analysis; from requirements clarification to deliverable
- Strong technical communication skills; both written and verbal
- Ability to understand and articulate the 'big picture' and simplify complex ideas
- Ability to identify and learn applicable new techniques independently as needed
Required Qualifications:
- 3 + years of expert level, hands-on experience with SAS 9 architecture solutions, Base SAS PROC coding, macro coding, data step programming, and SQL programming
- 1+ years of experience performing technical design and development in a cloud hosted SAS Viya environment
- Candidate must reside in the United States currently and have resided in the United States for three of the last five years
- Candidate must be able to clear a government background check
- Bachelor's degree required, strong preference for Computer Science field of study
- Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary
Nice to have:
- One or more of the following SAS technical certifications: SAS Certified Base Programmer for SAS 9; SAS Certified Architecture and Design Specialist; or SAS Certified Visual Business Analyst
- Effective working knowledge of business intelligence concepts, and database structures such as ETL, normalization, datamarts, data cubes, OLAP, star and snowflake schemas
- Prior experience working remotely full-time
- Federal Government contracting work experience
- Public trust, secret, or top secret clearance
Physical and emotional requirements for the job:
This position is to be performed remotely from an individual’s home office and involves sedentary work. Employees in this role can be expected to exert up to 10 pounds of force on occasion in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move standard electronic equipment. Employees are expected to make decisions in a timely manner and display emotional intelligence during occasional stressful situations.
