Our Fortune 100 Retail/eCommerce client is transforming itself to get closer to the customer. This team is right in the middle of that journey and is currently focusing on scheduling appointments. Improving that space is big on their agenda – initiatives coming up are being hindered by SMS abilities as they are currently working with 10 yr old technology.
They are planning to add new features and functionality on that legacy model so they will be modernizing from on-prem to the Azure cloud and from .NET and Java legacy software to more modern technologies. As that is being completed, they need to do more cloud native development for application on the public cloud because their interactions will be opening scheduling capabilities to other teams within their organization.
They have a mixed team – many are working on maintaining the legacy tool and they will keep Java and .NET core as dev platforms, but plan to put everything on the cloud on Azure and plan to go serverless – basically upsetting the entire apple cart and starting over.
This person will help with the design for this transformation. The right person for this role will help them navigate and set up security on the public side to set up security for the team. They will be hands on the keyboard coding when it’s required (helping build POCs). In the beginning, there will probably not be as much coding, but over time a maximum of 50% coding working through large projects.
NECESSARY SKILLS:
- Strong Azure Experience/Expertise, including microservice and zero trust event-driven architectures
- Solid Java or .NET Experience/Expertise
- Able to see big picture from an architectural and team leader perspective, but still be hands on when necessary
