The Vice President of Design is responsible for the vision, execution and oversight of UX and design across EVERFI’s complete line of products. The Vice President promotes a design-first mindset across the organization and fosters design as a strategic capability, demonstrating how it transforms digital learning. In this capacity and in collaboration with Product leadership, the incumbent contributes to the definition of strategies for large, ambiguous product areas and guides their team through the execution of those strategies.
Responsibilities
  • Create and drive EVERFI’s strategy for product design – align and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure the vision helps deliver on company goals
  • Lead the cross-functional design team throughout the entirety of the design process- from brainstorming to front-end development collaboration
  • Manage, develop and coach all designers and external resources; this includes managing appropriate resource allocations and relationships
  • Champion the use of qualitative and quantitative data to discover and validate user needs and solutions to user problems
  • Lead the creation and implementation of audience-specific design systems for our courses that result in visually unique but harmonious designs across our courses and platform experiences
  • Manage product development dependencies and timelines, gather and evaluate stakeholder creative feedback and help decipher what goes forward into production
  • Guarantee the overall quality of design output and its contribution to business objectives
  • Build and maintain the product design roadmap and creative involvement in product development, determining timelines, outputs and workflows
  • Proactively assess UX and design risks, raise flags, and resolve issues before they become problems
  • Refine and own design philosophy, principles and guidelines, ensuring they are consistently applied to every product and experience
  • Enforce iterative design thinking informed by user testing and research during each design phase.
  • Collaborate with other Product leaders to maximize use of the organization’s component library when designing content experiences and interactions
  • Advocate for the learner in all decisions within the product, engineering, and design teams
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 10 years of combined UX and design experience as part of a product development team
  • 5 years of experience as a player/coach for other designers
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design methods related to digital products
  • Experience working within an agile methodology
  • Expert with Adobe CS
  • Expert with prototyping software – Figma, Sketch, etc.
  • Experience working with user testing software and services
  • Experience developing and evolving design systems
  • Systems thinking, problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
