To help us bring our vision for Portainer to life, we're searching for expressions of interest from skilled and ambitious Techncial Product Marketing Managers.
What is the role about?
Portainer's Product Marketing function is critically important as it provides the translation layer between the customer, the product team and the marketing department. It's an exciting and varied role covering a lot of ground, requiring a high level of customer empathy, technical competency/expertise and marketing skills.
The role is organized around 4 core pillars:
Acting as the ‘bridge' between Product and Marketing.
  • Translate the technical specifications and functionality into features and benefits anyone can understand (across all media, including the website)
  • Managing the flow of information into the market in respect to releases, ensuring that the messaging, sales collateral, website etc is updated ahead of releases.
  • Ensure Community Advocates, Leaders etc are fully informed about what's coming/going and why. Own the accuracy of the message Portainer perpetuates to the market.
Developing and owning our persona-based messaging
  • Understand our core personas and be the expert in their needs / issues / wants / desires problems
  • Develop and own the product/feature/benefit messaging for our personas and ensure that they are used everywhere and consistently.
Understanding and documenting the competitive landscape in which we operate
  • Build a detailed understanding of our competitors and articulate our points of difference. Make sure our competitive advantages are front and centre in comms.
  • Get deep under the skin of the different pricing methodologies in the space and ensure we have the best possible pricing strategy for our product.
Creating awesome content
  • Create regular high-quality blog/video content (top/middle/bottom) of funnel (must have the ability to set up environments for content creation)
  • Take responsibility for the accuracy and positioning of the Portainer story across any/all media. Own the technical content on the website
  • Manage the pipeline of content required to support the business (video/blog/copy). Bring on additional resource as required to ensure sustainable delivery
Requirements
  • Minimum of four years experience as a Product Marketing Manager in the tech sector.
  • High level of technical proficiency in relevant technical areas (containerization technology / cloud native tech/ Kubernetes / Swarm / Docker)
  • Experience creating content (top/middle/bottom of funnel)
  • Skilled / passionate writer with good marketing skills
  • High level of customer empathy.
