Redesign Health is seeking to hire a Managing Director on its X Ventures team.  X Ventures is responsible for building healthcare companies with a significantly larger amount of committed capital than typical seed stage companies.  By doing so, X Ventures aims to inflect the growth curve for transformative startups.  As a Managing Director, you will lead the building of healthcare companies from zero-to-one and the scaling of those ventures to redesign the healthcare system. You will be able to make a huge impact in a range of areas and ensure that Redesign’s operating companies have the greatest impact. This role allows someone to get involved in both the creation and scaling of companies. 
What you'll do:
Lead Idea to Launch for X Ventures Companies:
  • Lead idea to launch development work for new concepts, managing the team and coordinating all resources to ensure successful launch. 
  • Ensure appropriate resources are being deployed and that new concept development progresses on schedule and adheres to our high standards for launch.
  • Responsible for building advisory board and executive team for new concepts
  • Representing X Ventures to launch partners and external stakeholders involved in concept development 
Develop a high performing X Ventures Team
  • Develop and manage X Ventures team members, establishing both team and individual objectives to ensure focus and execution on critical success drivers.
  • Create a team-oriented culture to drive high levels of engagement and a company-first attitude.  Live Redesign Health’s values and virtues.
Develop and execute critical internal operating processes
  • Build upon a library of playbooks and materials to communicate best practices.
  • Optimize workflow communication and ensure efficient collaboration.
  • Continually evaluate the fidelity and efficiency of processes against core KPIs. Optimize and update processes in collaboration with the broader platform.
  • Identify improvements in technologies, workflows, processes, or structural changes. 
Research and Launch Process Management
  • Drive thematic and industry research to inform future ideation.
  • Review project progress alongside other team leaders to drive high-quality outcomes 
  • Ensure that the teams translate initial hypotheses into actionable fully vetted concepts ready for funding while adhering to the Redesign method for launching new ventures
  • Work alongside functional teams (e.g., product, marketing, legal) to bring ideas from concept to launch.
 What you'll need:
  • Background
    • 10+ years of experience showing increasing levels of responsibility
    • 4+ year of experience in an investing, equity research, or management consulting role, preferably with significant experience researching or diligencing potential PE/VC assets 
    • 3+ years of experience researching or working with companies in the healthcare sector
    • 2+ years of effective people management experience
    • Deep passion for healthcare, where you are reading and learning about the industry in your spare time
  • Skills
    • Demonstrated financial acumen and deep understanding of business fundamentals
